- Hi, how can I help you?
- I’d like a sous vide water cooker, please.
- Certainly madam. What kind of oven have you thought of?
- A simple one, not too expensive.
- Alright, could you come with me? I’ll show you our machines.
- Thanks.
My husband bought this as a surprise because I was experimenting with sous vide on my stovetop. We have done sirloin steaks, T-bones, ribeyes, baby back ribs, fish and I'm tackling a brisket tonight. Every time the food has been amazing! This is, by far, the best way to cook your proteins and it's so freakin' easy! The temperature fluctuates a bit, but I don't think a few degrees hurts since everything I've cooked came out exactly as expected. I only checked the temp due to some of the complaints on the low reviews. Also, I read that the Teflon bubbles after a few uses. I'm wondering if people are cleaning it with dish soap...don't...just empty the water and wipe it dry. Your food is in a vacuum sealed bag...it's just water. For those who are starting out with sous vide cooking, this oven is perfect.
After the first use, it had rust spots on the inside. With every use, it gets more rust. I have to empty the water immediately when the food is finished cooking to prevent further rusting. It does cook the food very nicely, just wish the inner lining was of better quality. The temperature fluctuated between 3 and 5 degrees at first. I purchased this unit in January 2016 it is now November 2016. Today I went to use it and the temperature continued to rise and the water actually started to boil. It was set on 134 degrees. The control registered 225!. Would NOT recommend this product and will not purchase another of this brand.
